There’s many issues facing the Gold Coast, and every other town and city in the country because of local councils, state governments and greedy developers.
The Light Rail project is going to rip up a bunch of the iconic Norfolk Pines in Burleigh and Miami, and other trees, as well as ploughing through the side of Burleigh Hill and a major Koala Habitat and sacred aboriginal land, and it’s also going to destroy ancient indigenous fish traps in Tallebudgera Creek. They’re goin’ for the trifecta!
Mermaid to Burleigh are the firing line! Right Now. They’ve already ripped up dozens of trees along the highway adjacent to Miami High School and the Burleigh Pines are next.
Stage 3 of the unnecessary infrastructure project is already ripping up the highway, businesses, and homes, but it’s still not A DONE DEAL!
Planning is not 100% completed and there is NO FEDERAL FUNDING.
If the residents of Palm Beach and beyond do not want this thing they need to please support the suburbs that are bearing the brunt of the disruptions RIGHT NOW….which are Mermaid Beach, Nobbys Beach, Miami, Burleigh, (and Burleigh Waters too cause everyone diverts down Christine Ave, Mountain View Ave and Reedy Creek Rd) and Koala Park.
Incidentally, they’ve skipped ahead and are building infrastructure at Teemangun St, Currumbin. They’ve closed the vital service road that links local residents to Golden Four Dr, Tugun.
Why? The tram isn’t supposed to be going that way, but it is. They are building a new bridge over the creek on Teemangum Street for the Tram, and it will be diverted off the highway onto Golden Four Drive at the telephone exchange. https://www.gclr3.com.au/goldlinq/gclr3
And, most likely the new bridge will be pedestrian only, no vehicle traffic. Closing that service road permanently, even though the sign says closed for 12 months. Go check it out.
